Baro Vehicles Planning to Launch First Semi-autonomous Golf Car in UK
Baro Vehicles, developer of semi-autonomous compact vehicle, plans to launch a semi-autonomous golf car in UK.
This newly developed prototype vehicle is called BARO One Golf Car.
The R&D and Pre-series Plant at MIRA Technology Park is selected as its new workshop, since MIRA is the UK’s leading automotive technology park and Enterprise Zone, with the ready availability of materials and the well-established skills infrastructure. In this way, Baro Vehicles will set up its business in the UK. The new Baro Vehicles Ltd workshop is located alongside well-known brands like Bentley, Jaguar or Aston Martin.
Baro Vehicles were introduced to MIRA Technology Park by The Invest in Warwickshire team. The Invest in Warwickshire team has a proven track-record in helping UK and International businesses to find suitable premises in Warwickshire to set-up new operations or relocate to or expand their business.
Gabriel Giani, the CEO and co-founder of Baro Vehicles, also pointed out the reason to choose UK: The UK, and the Midlands in particular, has a strong reputation for software skills with local universities specialising in connected and autonomous vehicle technology. These skills will be essential as they look to significantly grow their business over the next five years.
Introduction of BARO One Golf Car
BARO One Golf Car will have a fully adjustable electronic steering system and a dual suspension system. While its electronic steering system can be operated on either the left or the right seat, its dual suspension system is primarily used in performance cars. The front double wishbone suspension and rear Panhard rod will provide comfort and stability to enable a smooth ride over the rolling terrain of a golf course.
The software of BARO One Golf Car includes a pre-loaded map of the course or campus, enabling safe navigation between holes on a golf course or campus buildings.
Moreover, The vehicle also uses perimeter sensors and a camera, connected to a central computer, for autonomous driving as well as driver assistance.
BARO One Golf Car is specially designed for closed neighbourhoods, such as golf courses, technology parks and university campuses.
Baro Vehicles Ltd is already fully working on the new workshop at MIRA Technology Park. The company plans to launch its first semi-autonomous golf cart by the end of 2017, expecting to begin delivery from January 2018. Hopefully, Baro Vehicles aims to make its technology fully autonomous by 2020.
Besides BARO One Golf Car, The company has planned to develop semi-autonomous compact vehicles for different uses, such as golf cars, private spaces, industrial parks or universities. In the next five years, Baro Vehicles hopes to expand its team by 50 new employees with a mixture of engineers and administrative staff.
