Hello, i recently purchased a cart from my roommate. it is between a 01-04 model, i am not quite sure but can find out...
My problem is the following: whenever i put the key in and turn to the on position and smash the gas peddle i can hear the engine rev up a little but no forward or backward motion(when in reverse i can hear the backup buzzer). the engine does not sound like it is revving very high at all. i can see belts and wheels turning BUT the wider belt is not turning, which looks to me like the belt that would turn the wheels. The golf cart might have been exposed to water in some way due to the jackass driving it through water after tropical storm fay. Also a wire coming off the negative post of the battery is broke, but is to the headlights, the local cart mechanic said it should still drive though(its is some kind of fuse thing). The battery may be old 06-07 but the lights work when i put the broke wire/fuse together.

I would appreciate advice on some troubleshooting tips before i end up paying out the rear for a mechanic to look at it. i know i can fix it if i just had an idea of what to look for. My main concerns are if water got in it somehow why would it not move but the engine still run. Or does the battery being from 06-07 have something to do with it (old maybe). i feel it really could be something simple or maybe not. i bought the cart for only 750 dollars and it is in great condition besides the fact that it has been sitting for about a yr.

p.s. when i say the engine revs, it doesn't get that loud. it gets about as high as the sound of a idling lawnmower.. HELP PLEASE
