My wife has the urge to buy a golf cart. I really don't care for one, but I told her that I'd look into it and see what I can find out.
Looking at a few places around DFW and on Craigslist, you can buy a plain-Jane electric cart (used) for around $2500. These are about 4-5 year old models that I assume are retired from a golf course. Or, you can but the same 4-5 year old cart with the lift, big tires/wheels, paint job and a few other add ons for $5,500+. Now, I don't mind installing a lift kit ($300-500) and adding new wheels/tires ($300) to give it a better look, but DAMN, am I out of line thinking these things are overpriced? I figured the ones online listed for $5999, I might be able to get for $4,200-4,500.
I like this one, but would prefer Maroon.

We only plan on using this for around our neighborhood. We live in a golf cart friendly neighborhood and just want one for pleasure. We will not use it much for hunting/off roading, but it "might" see some dirt roads/mud. We could drive it to local ponds or the bigger lake and go fishing or just cruising around.
I think I want electric, but is there a reason why I should consider a gas cart? Is there a brand that I should stay away from ? EZGO and ClubCart seem to be the most popular.
Thanks for any feedback!!
