I bought a lifted club car. It is a 48 volt with six 8 volts Exide batteries that are four years old. I checked the voltage after a charge and they read 8.3-8.5 V dc. After maybe a 1.5-2 mile ride my battery meter on the dash reads less than half. Meter on the battery reads 8.2-8.3 V dc. I refilled the water in them and they were low. Do I need knew batteries or what should I do?

8.5 / 8.6 is what a lead acid 8 volt battery should read fully charged. Pack voltage should be 51/53 volts. Charge your battery pack to full charge. Wait one hour and take a reading of each battery and let us know. The 8.3 & 8.2 is not a bad voltage reading.

When adding water make sure it is distilled water, and only 1/8 inch above lead plates .
